JDSU forms alliance with ULVAC

Deal will include all manufacturing peripheral equipment and production training

MILPITAS, CALIFORNIA, October 25, 2006 – JDSU and ULVAC today announced a collaboration agreement giving ULVAC the ability to commercialize JDSU’s innovative UCP-1 optical coating processes in the Asia-Pacific market. This alliance combines JDSU’s expertise in optical coating technology with ULVAC’s experience in equipment design and manufacturing to provide customers in the region with high-performance custom optical coating capability. Under the agreement ULVAC will manufacture, supply and service the ULDiS-200UCP optical coating platform throughout the Asia-Pacific region.
The ULDiS-200UCP optical coating platform is a general purpose system innovated and evolved from Meta-mode technology for coating products in the visible and near-IR regions of the optical spectrum, applications include digital imaging, projection displays and custom optics. ULDiS-200UCP offers speed, tight spectral control and low defect levels. This combination results in breakthrough performance for a thin film coating platform.
